LEARN WITH MELISSA

Classes and Events

Join me in the woods and fields to discover the wild plants around us.

Learning Together

I teach foraging classes, guided plant identification walks, and seasonal workshops throughout the year.

Most are held on the farm or at properties across Missouri. All are taught by me and

focused on helping you learn to identify and use the wild plants around you.

Core Offerings

Foraging Classes

Join me for hands-on harvesting. We will walk the fields and woods, learning to safely cut, dig, and gather wild plants without harming the local ecosystem.

Identification Walks

Step outside for observing and naming species. We will focus entirely on reading the landscape, spotting useful plants, and understanding their environment.

Seasonal Workshops

Spend time crafting and preserving. We take the abundant harvests of the current season and learn traditional methods to store and use them year-round.

Upcoming Schedule

Foraging woodland plants in early spring

all levels

Each class explores the landscape as it changes through the year, learning to recognize edible and useful wild plants as they emerge, flower, and fade with the seasons. Rather than focusing on a fixed list of species, these walks invite participants to slow down, observe closely, and build real familiarity with the land.

What to Expect

Observing native flora closely on the farm

An Unhurried Pace

I teach at an unhurried pace. We take the time to observe native flora closely, ensuring you understand not just the names, but the defining characteristics of each plant. This careful approach helps you build real confidence in the field.

Preparation Checklist

  • Sturdy, closed-toe boots for walking on uneven terrain
  • A full water bottle to stay hydrated during our time outside
  • A field notebook and pencil for your personal observations
Sturdy boots and a field notebook ready for foraging

Join the Waitlist

My foraging classes and plant identification walks often fill quickly. If a session you want to attend is currently full, you can join the waitlist. I will notify you directly if a spot opens up.

Please check back often for seasonal updates. I regularly add new workshops as the growing season shifts.
